Hi! My name is Jason. I was born and raised in Minneapolis but have made my home in Fushimi, a suburb south of Kyoto, Japan for the past 7 years. Fushimi is home to about 25 sake breweries still in operation today. I just wanted a way to try and convey the lifestyle I lead here in Fushimi. I hope the blog lets me do that.
I also hope that more visitors to Japan and especially Kyoto will take the 10 minute train ride south to Fushimi. I firmly believe it is one of the best kept secrets in Kyoto. It still maintains a lot of the charm and beauty of a traditional way of Japanese life. How can you visit Kyoto and NOT come to Fushimi? I really don’t know! Come and see for yourself what I’m talking about.
